Benjamin B. Betteridge, M.D.

Dr. Betteridge moved to Utah during the summer of 2005 along with his wife, Rachel and two boys, Christian and Braden. Born and raised in UByu Team Consultniversity Place Washington, he attended Brigham Young University for one year participating in the basketball program before serving an LDS mission to southern Germany and Austria. He returned to Brigham Young after his mission and married Rachel Westhoff. Together they transferred to the University of Kansas to complete their undergraduate degrees and for medical school. After completing an Emergency Medicine residency in Seattle at the University of Washington, he relocated to Utah for specialty training in Sports Medicine.

Dr. Betteridge believes that great patient care means more than proper medical training; it requires knowing your patient's needs, taking time to understand the uniqueness of their injury or illness, and tailoring care to be specific to the individual and condition. He takes pride in helping active people maximize their health and physical performance in a cooperative and personable manner.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Betteridge enjoys spending free time with his family, traveling, attending sporting events, participating in various sport leagues, and if his wife will let him, playing XBOX with his sons.

Spencer E. Richards, M.D.

Dr. Richards was born and raised in Salt Lake City where he was one of eight kids growing up in an a very active Byu Team Consulthousehold. A proud West High Panther, he played multiple sports and enjoyed learning in such a diverse, fun environment. His undergraduate degree in Business Management was earned at Brigham Young University where he also starred on the Rugby team. He took two years out of school to serve an LDS mission in Taejon, South Korea. His medical education began at the University of Utah, took him to Indiana for three years, and brought him “home” again to Utah in 2005.

Dr. Richards is married to a Bountiful native—Molly (formerly Mason)—and they are blessed with five wonderful kids: Cort, Macy, Caleb, Jake and Emmy . As a family they enjoy being outdoors, traveling, playing sports, and reading great books. Molly also stays busy managing her own business—A House of Order, a professional home organizing company. She’s the best!

OUR STAFF

Rachel M. Betteridge, B.S.E.

Byu Team ConsultRachel Betteridge graduated from the University of Kansas in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a Sport Science emphasis.  Rachel previously studied Health Promotion at Brigham Young University until she transferred to KU in 1996.  While at KU, Rachel was part of the KU Fit Team and worked at the KU Medical Center’s fitness facility as a trainer and instructor.  During this time, she also received training in martial arts style kickboxing.   She is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).  For several years, Rachel worked as the coordinator of personal training and aerobic programs for Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri while her husband was getting his medical degree.  Rachel enjoys the satisfaction of helping others reach their fitness goals and live healthier, happier lives. 

Rachel’s personal training philosophy includes addressing all five components of fitness: cardiorespiratory, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition and flexibility.  She also believes proper nutrition plays a very important role in overall health and fitness.  Rachel believes in creating a program that is tailored to each individual’s goals and needs, while keeping it fun and enjoyable so the transition to a healthier lifestyle is a LIFETIME change. 

Rachel can often be seen pushing a jogger with one son, while the other son rides his bike along side.  During any free time, Rachel loves spending time with her 3 boys (Dad included).    

Natalie Yearsley, A.T.,C., LRPT

Natalie’s enthusiasm for sports medicine has been growing ever since college. Introduced to the profession of athletic training in 1994 while attending Weber State University, Natalie was immediately drawn to musculoskeletal medicine. Her desire to help people recover from injury and illness did not stop with her program at WSU. She has gone on to complete specialty training in phlebotomy, limited scope radiology, and massage therapy, and will graduate from Brigham Young University with a Master of Athletic Training degree in the fall of 2007.
